The number of passengers flying out of Bournemouth Airport has grown in recent years, and as such, the arrivals hall has been given the go ahead for a revamp.

Plans are in place to have a new arrivals hall up and running by summer 2010. The new hall is an innovative project, designed to give travellers a dramatic welcome; and its design is environmentally friendly. It cuts down on CO2 emissions - in fact it will produce 70% less CO2 than the current arrivals hall.

The clever design of the new structure is eco-friendly, allowing it to make full use of solar energy and natural ventilation, reducing the need for mechanical and electric installations. Climate change is a concern for many travellers, so the new arrivals hall will be a breath of fresh air.

There were concerns about whether or not the arrivals hall would match the departure hall. Though they’ll look quite different, the project’s organisers believe the two structures will complement each other well.

Bournemouth Airport offers flights all over Europe, including Alicante, Fuerteventura, Naples and Sharm el Sheikh. Wherever you’re headed, make sure you buy adequate travel insurance.

The new hall will be the first of its type in the UK.
