Just what we’ve all been waiting for. The government has announced that from 19th July fully vaccinated UK residents will no longer have to self-isolate when they return to England from amber list countries, additionally it will be dropping its guidance against leisure travel to amber list countries from the same date.

Children under the age of 18 will also not have to self-isolate when returning to England from amber list countries.

This announcement really does open up the choice for holidays abroad as some of our most loved holiday destinations are on the amber list, including Spain, France, Portugal and Greece.

Fully vaccinated travellers will still be required to take a pre-departure test before their journey home and a PCR test 2 days after arrival.   This means that for fully vaccinated UK residents the requirements for amber and green list countries are now the same. 

Travellers returning from red list countries will still be required to go into hotel quarantine, regardless of their vaccination status. 

Being fully vaccinated is defined as having had your second dose of a two-dose vaccine more than 14 days ago. You can prove your vaccination status by using the NHS Covid Pass which can be accessed via the NHS app or by calling 119.

It is also important to check the entry requirements for your destination country.

Currently to enter Spain or Greece you will need proof of either a negative PCR test or vaccination, whilst France is only allowing entry to fully vaccinated adults with proof of a negative PCR test and under 18s travelling with fully vaccinated adults.
